Daikin Japan, Building Skills for the Future: Japan and Senegal Join Hands in Vocational Training

A new partnership aims to strengthen industrial talent in Senegal through training programs led by Daikin and Japanese partners.

Senegal has taken an important step toward strengthening its industrial workforce. On August 21, 2025, the government of Senegal and the Senegal–Japan Vocational Training Center (CFPT-SJ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Daikin Industries Ltd., supported by partners such as JICA, Toyota Tsusho, NEC, Toda Corporation, and Yamaha Motor. The agreement focuses on providing training programs for skilled service personnel in the air conditioning industry, with the goal of launching the initiative in 2026.

This collaboration comes at a time when the demand for skilled labor in Senegal is rapidly growing and diversifying. Companies operating in the region also face challenges in securing highly trained professionals, making this partnership especially significant. CFPT-SJ, which was established in 1984 with support from JICA, has long been a central institution for vocational training not only in Senegal but across West Africa.

Through this initiative, Daikin and its partners will provide training designed to meet the needs of the modern labor market. As a global leader in air conditioning, Daikin has already been working with universities and vocational schools around the world, and this project reflects its commitment to nurturing talent and driving industry growth internationally.

Looking ahead, the program has the potential to transform Senegal’s industrial workforce and strengthen the region’s economic development. By creating opportunities for young people to gain specialized technical skills, it could also attract further international investment and encourage innovation in West Africa.
