Japan, Panasonic Unveils Compact “Ziaino” Air Purifier with 4-in-1 Functions for Modern Homes

Japan introduces a new hypochlorous acid-based sterilizing and deodorizing machine designed to match today’s lifestyle needs.

In Japan, Panasonic Corporation has announced the release of three new models of its household hypochlorous acid air sterilizing and deodorizing machine, known as “Ziaino.” The lineup, including the F-MV5000C, F-MV5020C, and F-MV6000C, will be available from late October 2025. These devices not only sterilize and deodorize but also perform dust collection and humidification, offering four essential functions in a single, space-saving unit.

The development responds to shifting residential trends in Japan, where around 80% of living and dining spaces are 22 tatami mats (approximately 36 m²) or smaller. As homes become more compact and living spaces double as study areas, workspaces, and guest rooms, the demand for clean, comfortable air has grown. Panasonic’s new models meet this need by reducing the internal size of components while still covering larger rooms.

The F-MV5000C features a footprint no larger than a B4 sheet of paper yet supports spaces up to 22 tatami mats. The F-MV5020C “Pet Edition” introduces a “smell mode” that detects even faint odors such as pet food, while also offering an optional top attachment to prevent cats from sitting on the device. The larger F-MV6000C expands coverage to 26 tatami mats, making it the most powerful household Ziaino to date.

Panasonic also confirmed deodorizing effects against common household issues such as pet odors, aging-related smells, and mold. This positions Ziaino not just as an air purifier but as a comprehensive solution for modern living environments. With a monthly production target of 6,000 units, Panasonic aims to make cleaner air more accessible to households dealing with smaller living spaces and diverse lifestyle needs.

Looking forward, this technology could impact not only Japanese households but also global markets where compact housing and indoor air quality concerns are growing. The combination of sterilization, deodorization, dust collection, and humidification in a small footprint highlights a trend toward multifunctional, efficient appliances that optimize living comfort.
