LG Acquires Leading European Hot Water Solutions Company OSO to Strengthen HVAC Business

On June 30, 2025, LG Electronics signed an agreement to acquire 100% of OSO, a leading hot water solutions company based in Norway. Founded in 1932, OSO is a top European provider of stainless steel electric water heaters and thermal storage systems for heat pumps.

In Europe, the demand for air-to-water heat pumps (AWHPs)—which extract heat from the air to provide heating, cooling, and hot water—is rapidly increasing due to climate change initiatives and energy security concerns. LG plans to integrate OSO’s high-performance hot water products with its own heat pump technologies to accelerate the offering of comprehensive HVAC solutions.

OSO’s hot water tanks are known for using stainless steel materials that offer excellent corrosion resistance and hygiene, as well as superior energy efficiency and minimal heat loss. LG aims to leverage OSO’s manufacturing facilities and technology to further promote automation and efficiency in production.

Moving forward, OSO will continue to operate independently while utilizing LG’s global network and R&D resources to pursue new growth opportunities. LG is pursuing global expansion of its HVAC business through its “3B Strategy”: Build, Borrow, and Buy.
